Last Updated on 15 March 2022If you are an EU Amazon FBA seller delivering products to UK customers or vice versa, Brexit complicates matters for you. As deliveries were no longer considered intra-community transports but instead imports and exports, the UK was excluded from the Pan-European fulfilment program by Amazon. However, recent changes to the European Fulfilment Network (EFN) make these types of deliveries possible again. Learn more about the EFN and how the Amazon FBA and Brexit UK problems gets solved by EFN on our blog and read on to learn how to get started.
Step 1: Enable FBA export settings
Before you can enable the UK and EU Fulfilment Network, you will need to enable the FBA export settings. To do so, you need to go to Settings and Fulfilment by Amazon and look for Shipping programmes and export settings. The latter needs to be enabled.
Step 2: Enable the European Fulfilment Network between the UK and the EU
In the next step you have to enable all possible connections between the UK marketplace and the EU marketplaces. Here you can choose one or more of the German, Italian, French, and Spanish marketplaces. To do so, you click on “Settings” and “Fulfilment by Amazon”, and search for “CrossBorder Fulfilment Settings”.
Step 3: Check the Eligibility of your listings
Next, you should check if all your products and listings are eligible for the UK EU Fulfilment. This can be done through the European Fulfilment Network ASIN Eligibility report in Pan-European FBA Inventory Reports. Simply click “Download Report” under “Manage your European Fulfilment Network settings across UK and EU” in the “Reports Tab”. This report can also be used to manage, add, or remove products from the EFN cross-border program at any time.
Step 4: Create listings across the UK and select European marketplaces
Once all the options have been enabled it is time to list your products on the UK and any of the following European marketplaces: Amazon.de, Amazon.fr, Amazon.it, and / or Amazon.es. You can do this either manually or with the Amazon Build International Listings tool (BIL)
List your products manually
To list your products manually, follow these 5 steps
- On you Seller Central homepage, select the marketplace, you want to create your listing in, in the drop-down menu at the top of the page
- In the Inventory Tab, click on “Add a Product”
- Type the ASIN of the product you are trying to list in the search bar
- Click on “Sell this product”
- Type in the name of the product, select FBA as fulfilment channel and repeat across all marketplaces.
It is important that you use the same SKU when listing a product as the SKU of the original listing. The SKU need to be identical across both the UK marketplace and the European marketplaces.
List your products with the Build International Listings (BIL) tool
If you have not yet added all marketplaces on which you want to sell you have to do so in the beginning by clicking “Add target marketplace”.
Next, go to your Connection Settings and click on “Edit connection”, select all marketplaces that are necessary and save the Settings. Following that, select “apply same rules by region” and choose the type of offer you are offering (e.g. FBA).
Once that is done, you will have to wait for 4 hours until your listings are refreshed and synchronised.
Step 5: Match the pricing of your listings
The prices of your products should be adjusted to account for exchange rate, fulfilment fees, and VAT. Again, this can be done manually or through the BIL.
If you want to adjust the prices manually, you will need to do so in the FBA Inventory Page of each marketplace individually.
If you are using the BIL, you can do so by editing the Pricing Rules. Select “apply same rules by region” and “same as the source marketplace, adjust for taxes and fee”. If these rules are applied, the price is adjusted according to the destination country to eflect fulfilment fees, tax rates, and exchange rates. Of course, you can also set different pricing rules.
Once you have completed all the steps, you are ready to start selling across the EU and UK border. Of course, an Amazon guide does not substitute the advice of a tax accountant.
